Latest Game News for 2012 – 2013
One of the most common worries in the gaming world is where do these revolutionary gaming consoles go next as the current generation of consoles have been in existence for quite some time now with no real information being released on the future generations. We have therefore decided to compile the latest game news for our readers to review.
This has caused many different software developers to look elsewhere so they could develop new games for many different platforms. This has had a great effect for the other gaming platforms such as the iOS and web browsing games but the question that everybody seems to be asking is where do we go from here? Many of the leading developers in the industry have already stated that they will not return to making games for these consoles as they have limited capabilities and the general belief across the board is that Microsoft and Sony have let the pot go stale be leaving this current generation of gaming consoles to their own devices with no real sign of improvement.
This fear has been confirmed even more by the development manager at Square Enix who has openly stated this week that if something does not change very soon the whole of the console gaming industry could be at risk from other divisions such as mobile and PC gaming as these platforms offer much more advanced technology of facilities than the archaic consoles we have been playing for the past ten years. The only exception to this is the Nintendo Wii as it is relatively new in comparison to its counter parts and continues to improve all the time by offering all new features to their users. There have been widespread rumours across the gaming world that the next generation of consoles which are likely to be the Xbox 720 and the Playstation 4 could be the last ones we see from these two iconic companies as they are now struggling to beat the consoles they have created in the past. Of course there was always going to be limitations on console based games due to the technology but there is now a huge call for the futuristic virtual reality gaming genre to be applied. Like with all new innovations if this does in fact happen then it will be very expensive for the gamer as this type of technology is notorious for being very expensive and also that the technology could not be incorporated into a small enough gaming console for it to be totally viable.
The response to these worries from Sony and Microsoft is a simple one where they state that they have introduced many modifications to this generation of consoles which should have kept the gamer happy and it did for a while. But the Xbox Kinect and the Playstation Move do not really offer us anything different to what we could have received by using a Nintendo Wii as all they really do is offer wireless and controller free controls for our games. They do not improve graphics or game play or anything that may excite us which is very disappointing to say the least.
Whatever happens it is only a matter of time now before these two giants will be required to create something new to keep us entertained or they could face a huge backlash of gamers retuning to previous platforms such as the PC which has always offered brilliant games and has the option of improvement. We will just have to wait and see what comes our way but the truth is something must change or we risk the industry coming to a stand still which could have catastrophic consequences for these two global giants.
